small contributions... January 2023
At work, on the road or at home sweet home... battery-powered devices are a staple of modern every day life. Radios deliver da funky muzac, wall clocks tick away their time, cable detectors give warnings, flashlights brighten the night, scales weigh it up and so on and so forth... Usually, by default all these little helpers come supplied with single-use, non-rechargeable batteries, which need discarding after having reached their energy-low.
What is more, non-rechargeable batteries are pretty inefficent when it comes to the required energy, as their production gulps up many times over the amount of energy they provide while in use.
But wait a sec... aren't single-use batteries a thrifty bargain, always? Matter of fact: they are way cheaper as their identical-in-size rechargeable cousins. However, as it can be considered a sound assumption that rechargeable batteries can be recharged many times over, the higher initial cost for these little powerhouses is amortized in little time, and then, even the required energy comsumption for their initial production can be regarded as rather irrelevant.
Beginning January 2023, bwz Schwingungstechnik has stopped the sourcing of single-use batteries of the standard sizes AAA, AA, C, D and 9V, and will henceforth constantly replace them with the identical-in-size rechargeable versions.
